- What: The aim of this study was to explore the biotechnological potential of cultivable obtained from sediment samples collected at the coastal cenote Pol-Ac in Yucatán Mexico. Specifically the investigation aimed to assess production of and compounds. This work provides insights into the diversity, enzymatic activity, and antimicrobial potential of bacteria inhabiting these unexplored habitats. In the current study, putative type I polyketide synthase (PKS) genes were identified in 24 of the isolated strains; 22 of these showed a PCR product with the KPF/KPR primer pair, and 10 with the 5LL/4UU primer pair . . .
