    As commons, sacred groves are often shared resources managed by local communities through rules, prohibitions, and punishment of unauthorized access (Marini Govigli et_al, 2021; Samakov and Berkes, 2017). Globally and in Nigeria, there are illegal exploitation of the resources in sacred groves for personal economic benefit (Bhagwat and Rutte, 2006; Dudley et_al, 2010; Probst, 2009).
