  • What: PRESENTATION OF THE METHODOLOGY Governing Equations This study focuses on the natural convection of air in the annular 3D cavity submitted to a horizontal thermal gradient in Zone A, shown in Figure 1. As the experiment was designed to ensure that density variations are sufficiently moderate for the Boussinesq approximation to be valid the latter is used and the density in the buoyancy term is related to the temperature as 𝜌=𝜌𝑟 , where 𝛽 is the thermal expansion coefficient.
