SUMMARY
In recent years, tobacco has been proposed as a risk factor for the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients who suffer from pathologies related to kidney deterioration and in the general population. Elucidating whether smoking cessation is related to an improvement in kidney function is relevant, as this may be a modifiable risk factor in the evolution of kidney damage.
