SUMMARY
The concept of ecosystem services (ES) has been conceived to highlight how the wellbeing of the society depends upon the functioning of ecosystems (Costanza et_al 1997, Daily 1997, Costanza et_al 2017). Within this context, it becomes extremely useful to distinguish between "capacity" and "flow" of ES (Villamagna et_al 2013): the first refers to the ecosystem`s potential to deliver ES, whereas the second occurs when this potential is translated into an effective production/use of the ES.
