In studies of citizenship, the young are one of the most targeted groups. Even if one accepts that the young express very little interest in participating in conventional politics, such as joining a political party (O`Toole et_al, 2003; Quintelier, 2007), they seem to be very active in communitarian and environmental issues, revealing a variety of interests that can be targeted to understand and foster their participation (Haste and amp; Hogan, 2006).
