Effect of fenugreek on hyperglycemia: a systematic review and meta-analysis

SUMMARY

    Diabetes affects half a billion people globally and is expected to rise by 25% in 2030 and by 51% in 2045. A clinical study showed that fenugreek`s antidiabetic effect was accomplished by increasing insulin sensitivity. In contrast, some studies have found that fenugreek seeds may decrease postprandial insulin and glucose levels (PPG). A few longerterm trials with fenugreek have also demonstrated decreases in fasting plasma glucose 2 of 14 (FPG) and PPG as well as glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), whereas some studies did not yield positive results. Given the conflicting evidence from multiple studies . . .
