SUMMARY
The Shifted OutPatient (SOP) model consists of treatment of patients by the psychiatrist within the primary care clinic to increase access to psychiatric treatment and has been shown to increase treated prevalence of mental disorders. In the last 20 years "collaborative care" models have also been developed, where collaboration in treatment of patients with GP diagnosed mental disorders takes place between GPs and mental health professionals including psychiatrists.
