- What: In the experiment, half of the sample was randomly assigned to provide their own reasons for perceiving either climate change (Issue 1) or illegal immigration (Issue 2) as dangerous and to describe the emotional responses they associated with the issue (the Self-Raters). To these substantive implications, this paper also makes a methodological contribution by demonstrating how mentalising accuracy can be explored empirically.
