- what: Using magneto-optical Kerr effect microscopy, the authors demonstrate out-of-plane magnetic order in the CrCl3 layer proximal to CrI3, with ferromagnetic interfacial coupling between the two. The authors propose that at least three spin layers (two layers of CrI3 plus one neighboring layer of CrCl3) are responsible for the observed transitions. To better understand the observations, the authors explore the magnetic ground_states of the CrI3/CrCl3 bilayer . . .
