• what: The authors propose a new method to characterize bedload transport in the field. The method the authors propose can be extended to smaller grains given the appropriate image resolution. In the following, the authors investigate the layer of mobile boulders. The analysis shows that the surface density rapidly decreases with grain size (Fig 4a).
