    In the field of soft tissue engineering, researchers have long sought to identify the characteristics of an ideal biomaterial that mimics the self-healing structure and composition of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and can stimulate cell organization and direct in_vivo tissue regeneration. Transglutaminase (TGase), a widely present enzyme in nature, has been demonstrated to catalyze the formation of isopeptide_bonds between proteins by mimicking in_vivo biosynthetic processes, which can significantly improve protein gelation. Bottom-up approaches combining biocatalyst crosslinking with selfassembled nanomaterials manifesting secondary interactions such as hydrogen_bonds, electrostatic or hydrophobic_interactions responsible for the formation . . .
