Evaluation method and module design for cost-effective compliance with irradiance guidelines to maintain soil quality in solar parks

HIGHLIGHTS

  • What: This paper shows that the partial transparency of bifacial modules is a key feature to maintain the soil ecology, and profitability, thus contributing to societal acceptance. This work has led to a first set of requirements for the ground irradiance to maintain soil quality via vegetation growth . This one of the main reasons to propose norms based on ground irradiance conditions rather than using GCR as a norm.
  • Who: Ilkay Cesar and colleagues from the TNO Energy and Materials Transition − Solar Energy , Westerduinweg , , LE Petten , the Netherlands have published the Original Article: Evaluation method . . .
