SUMMARY
Although previous research suggested that carotid plaques and baPWV are risk factors for CVD, few studies have examined whether the risk of CVD is higher in the presence of both factors. This study showed that high baPWV alone was associated with increased risks of CVD events and cerebral infarction but not MI or all-cause death, whereas carotid plaque alone was not associated with increased risk of any of these adverse outcomes.
