  • What: [8] Building on this limited evidence base, in this paper the authors aim to explore people`s lived experiences of shingles, and how they make sense of it. The qualitative study aims were to assess intervention acceptability and perceived effectiveness, and explore participant experiences of shingles. The authors aimed for 30 participants, evenly split between the two trial arms (amitriptyline and placebo), supported by an unmasked study statistician. Comparison with existing literature Understandings of shingles as a sign of ageing and of decreasing immunity found in the study has been reported previously.
