• What: The authors examine the proposition that unfair prices lead to lower contractual performances, consequently resulting in low participation in farming contracts. The findings of this study have shed light on the complex relationships between tomato growers and processors, uncovering the factors that influence contractual performances. The analysis primarily focused on internal factors within the contractual relationship. The study focused on short-term contractual performance; however, the long-term impact of contract farming on tomato growers` livelihoods, as well as on the sustainability of the sector, should be explored to gauge the overall effectiveness of contract farming . . .
