SUMMARY

    Sodium fluorescein (SF) is a dye that, when intravenously injected, has the peculiar characteristic of accumulation in cerebral areas, presenting damage to the BBB. The use of a dedicated filter in the surgical microscope, with a specific wavelength for fluorescein (540-690 nm), allows one to improve the tumor-brain discrimination intraoperatively, reducing the dosage needed to obtain this effect.
