Following the machinery of evolution, one would expect artificial neural_networks to have a similar role in carrying out these transformations. The authors outline the recent approaches using neural_networks and other iterative optimization schemes for designing 3D optical circuitry, which unavoidably performs 2D-to-2D mappings using 3D features of optics.
