From ideal to real: a qualitative study of the implementation of in situ interprofessional simulation-based education

SUMMARY

    Through the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Kanbar Center for Simulation contact list, the authors identified eight in situ IPSE programs in Northern California and reached out to leaders from these programs to inquire whether they defined their programs as "interprofessional". Based on the interviews with program facilitators, the authors believe that the full application of all 12 principles represents the ideal of IPSE, but important barriers prevented the programs the authors studied from accomplishing this ideal.
