SUMMARY
Although research has highlighted the detrimental consequences of some relatively conspicuous and mediatized components of global changes (e_g, global warming, Walther et_al, 2002; land-use changes and habitat loss, Jantz et_al, 2015; invasive species, Early et_al, 2016), other-presumably less obvious-environmental parameters have been proportionally less studied. Salinization-induced osmoregulatory challenges are expected to alter ecological assemblages and exert severe constraints on wildlife (Cañedo-Argüelles et_al, 2013; Herbert et_al, 2015). Mechanisms involved in osmoregulation are metabolically costly and thus should be traded off against allocation to other functions, such as growth . . .
