Unlike FAdV-C to FAdV-E, which are multi-serotype FAdV 2 of 9 species, FAdV-A and FAdV-B are single-serotype FAdVs. Among FAdV species and serotypes, FAdV-A (FAdV-1) has been considered the genetically least variable, as all strains characterized so far seem to share ≥99% nucleotide similarities.
