HIGHLIGHTS
- who: Bing Deng from the (UNIVERSITY) have published the article: High-surface-area corundum nanoparticles by resistive hotspot-induced phase transformation, in the Journal: (JOURNAL)
- what: The authors report the synthesis of dehydrated u03b1-Al2O3 nanoparticles (phase purity ~100%, particle size ~23 nm, surface area ~65 m2 g-1) by a pulsed direct current Joule heating of u03b3-Al2O3. As a control, the authors show that the calcination process itself does not trigger the phase transformation and has negligible effect on the coarsening or aggregation of the u03b3-Al2O3 phase (Supplementary Fig 9).
