SUMMARY
Infections with human papillomavirus (HPV) and associated diseases including oropharyngeal, anal, cervical, vaginal, vulvar, and penile cancers, are a public health concern worldwide. Prevention of HPV infection may rely on primary prevention through vaccination, which has demonstrated to be effective also against CIN and invasive cervical cancers, and on secondary prevention through organized screening programs using HPV-DNA test and PAP test. The cervical cancer screening program in Italy includes a Pap smear every 3 years for women aged 25-64 years or an HPV DNA test every 5 years for women ≥30 years . . .
