    The single RRM domain is characterized by the presence of two consensus_sequences: a highly conserved sequence (RNP1) of eight amino_acids and a less conserved sequence of six (RNP2). In prokaryotes, instead, its role is still not totally elucidated, and the RRM domain-containing protein is mainly composed by a single domain of around 90 amino_acids.
