SUMMARY
The lower frequency of circulating CD4+ T_cells in mice immunized under LP as compared to AP diet suggests an effect of protein reduction on the CD4+ T_cell compartment. Indeed, previous studies have indicated an important role for dietary protein in memory CD4+ T_cell function in mice, and of Larginine in regulating metabolic pathways involved in CD4+ T_cell memory survival and differentiation in humans. Severe dietary protein reduction reportedly has a detrimental effect on CD8+ T_cell memory, and was associated with low levels of antigen-specific memory CD8+ T_cells, their decreased homeostatic proliferation and impairment . . .
