SUMMARY
While IBD can often be linked to underweight patients, IBD is increasingly occurring in obese patients. In the general IBD population, 20-30% of both adult and pediatric patients are overweight or obese as per standard definitions. Records of the weight distribution among IBD patients suggest a clear trend of increased obesity impacting patients with CD rather than UC.
