Improving alphafold predicted contacts for alpha-helical transmembrane proteins using structural features

  • What: Now that AlphaFold2 predicts 3D structures with good accuracy in general the authors examine how well predicted 3D structures can be directly used for deciding residue contacts and_(2) whether features from 3D structures can be leveraged to further improve residue contact prediction. The authors explore this idea expanding on the previous work. In this work, the aim is to further the utilization of structural features to improve AlphaFold2`s performance for contact map prediction, although AlphaFold2`s performance is typically measured for 3D structures, in terms of predicted local distance difference test (pLDDT) .
