Influence of scour depth and flow velocity field on large-diameter pier group pile foundations

  • What: To address the lack of detailed field data on large-diameter pile group foundations, this study investigates the scour characteristics around Pier 34 of the Haiwen Bridge over a 630-day period. The study proposes a novel approach for estimating scour depth, which can be applied to similar cross-sea bridge projects in the South China Sea. In this study, the pile foundation is simulated using an elastomer, while the seabed is modeled using the Mohr-Coulomb elastoplastic model.
