HIGHLIGHTS
- who: G. Govinden from the Integrated BioSciences Group, School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield, Sheffield , TA, UK have published the research: Inhibition of sialidase activity and cellular invasion by the bacterial vaginosis pathogen Gardnerella vaginalis, in the Journal: (JOURNAL)
- how: The authors explored the potential of the inhibitor Zanamavir against GV whole cell activity using methyl-umbelliferyl neuraminic acid (MU-NANA) cleavage assays with HeLa cervical cells infected with GV demonstrated that Zanamivir elicited a 50% reduction in cell association activity and influence host-pathogen interactions and may represent novel therapeutic adjuncts.
