SUMMARY
In this study, cholesterol bioconversion by S.hirsuta VKM Ac-666 was studied using mineral and rich media, and expression of key genes related to different stages of cholesterol catabolism was evaluated in S.hirsuta VKM Ac-666T in response to cholesterol, and peculiarities of sterol degradation by this thermophilic actinobacterium were revealed.
