HIGHLIGHTS
- who: Sudha B. Singh from the l`Inflammation (INSERM), France Peking University, China have published the Article: Intestinal Alkaline Phosphatase Prevents Sulfate Reducing Bacteria-Induced Increased Tight Junction Permeability by Inhibiting Snail Pathway, in the Journal: (JOURNAL)
- what: The authors report that Desulfovibrio vulgaris (DSV) induced increased barrier permeability in polarized Caco-2 cells. The study demonstrates that DSV induced a loss of epithelial barrier integrity and caused an aberrant localization of TJ protein occludin in a snail-dependent manner.
- how: Cells with TEER >450 W were used in the experiments.
