HIGHLIGHTS
- What: The main reason for moving away from the city of Leuven was the lack of accessible public green space (Van Herzele and Wiedemann, 2003). Since data on social stratification is not available at the EU level, the analysis focuses on horizontal equity, i.e., differences in accessibility in the overall population, rather than vertical equity, i.e., dissimilarities between socioeconomic groups (Camporeale et_al, 2019). The findings correspond with this paper, as the authors identified that this mode of transportation is associated with both large dispersion and inequalities within and between cities.
