SUMMARY

    The study of differences between men and women in medicine is referred to as "sex/gender-specific medicine" (SGM) and is crucial in medical practice. Although it is generally believed that there is no difference in the occurrence of diseases between men and women, the reality is that sex and gender shape both the occurrence and clinical course of diseases. SGM conducts research on these differences between men and women to achieve more accurate diagnosis and treatment directions, such as in bowel diseases where differences between men and women are particularly important.
