The wider field of water architecture in South Asia and the Middle East has likewise explored important aesthetic, productive, and symbolic aspects of water systems (e_g, Blair and Bloom, 2009; Hegewald 2002; Jain-Neubauer, 2016; Ray and Maddipati, 2019; Ruggles, 2000; 2008; Sadaf, 2012).
