In his book, Transcultural Communication, Andreas Hepp makes a distinction between intercultural and international communication on the one hand, and transcultural communication on the other. Hepp notes that "[u]nlike intercultural and international communication, which takes place between individuals or groups of individuals belonging to distinct cultures or nation states, the concept of transcultural communication involves processes of communication that transcend individual cultures" (2015, p 3).
