• what: The aim of this study is to know the in understanding faced by students of the Department of Universitas Serambi Mekkah. The study showed that the participants faced some difficulties in translating poetry. The researcher conducted this study because this study has never been studied and researched at the University of Serambi Mekkah. This study also covers the basic issue of Indonesian EFL learners, which is motivation (Lamb, 2007; Irnanda, 2021).
