SUMMARY
A very common description of Kiai are those who speak and act with knowledge, and have religious educational institutions including Islamic boarding schools. In reality there are some Kiai who do not have Islamic boarding schools, but are called Kiai. The problem that arises is that Kiai only master religious knowledge and only have activities inside Islamic boarding schools, while other activities outside Islamic boarding schools have not been well publicized so that a more complex perspective is needed in understanding Islamic boarding schools. The government considers it necessary for Kiai to have legalization . . .
