Kin selection, group selection, and the varieties of population structure

• what: The main reason I anticipate resistance to the idea that group selection requires rb 6=0 is that rb 6=0 is neither necessary nor sufficient for there to be variation in fitness between groups.

SUMMARY

I use the term ‘group selection' in preference to ‘multi-level selection' because I see both kin and group selection as processes that can occur at multiple levels of organization . . .
