    Just as the colorful ribbons on toy llamas are a nod to the continued practice of llama adornment, the attributes that make llamas popular and ubiquitous today did not appear out of nowhere. The primary contention that emerges here is that the llama is a llama because of Andean people - it cannot be understood apart from them no matter where an individual llama resides. While gifted and individual llamas existed among wealthy and well-connected individuals, one likely origin of the camelid "industry" in the United_States lies with Arabian horse breeders Dick and Kay . . .
