Long-term effects of covid-19 and the pandemic on tinnitus patients

SUMMARY

    In the past 2 years, tinnitus was reported as a sequel of COVID-19, suggesting it could be one of the symptoms of Long COVID. In a study of Egyptian COVID-19 patients, tinnitus occurred as a post-COVID manifestation in 16.7% of 287 subjects (mean age 32.3 ± 8.5; range 20-60) who recovered from COVID-19. Remarkably, in a long-term follow-up (seven months after the recovery from COVID-19) of 31 patients included, 21 subjects reported the persistence of COVID-related tinnitus.
