Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer and is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Guidelines from both the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) recommend the use of the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) classification system as a framework for patient stratification, treatment allocation, and prognosis prediction in patients with HCC.
