• What: The authors investigated the macro- and microscopic anatomy of the esophagus stomach small intestine and large intestine in red-eared sliders. segments of the digestive tract had longitudinal mucosal folds the height and width of which varied in each segment of the digestive tract. Although a limited degree of discussion is possible based on the morphological findings alone, the authors believe that the study provides an anatomical basis for a novel approach to understand the evolution of the digestive tract.
