  • how: Data from more than 20000 historical maize trials in Africa from 1999 to 2007 combined with daily temperature and precipitation data showed that each additional degree day above 30u25e6 C reduced the final yield by 1% under optimal rainfed conditions and by 1.7% under drought ones (Lobell et_al 2011).
