- what: Through virological analyses, the authors demonstrate that UV can have an effect on the enzymatic activity of a viral protein but not the entry process at all, and that the loss of viral infectivity principally results from UV-induced genome damage. The authors showed that HIV-1 is inactivated even without apparent destruction of proteins . . .
