Medin co-aggregates with vascular amyloid-β in alzheimer’s disease

HIGHLIGHTS

  • who: Jessica Wagner from the (UNIVERSITY) have published the research: Medin co-aggregates with vascular amyloid-u03b2 in Alzheimeru2019s disease, in the Journal: (JOURNAL) of 12/Oct/2022
  • what: The authors demonstrate in amyloid-u03b2 precursor protein (APP) transgenic mice and in patients with Alzheimer`s disease that medin co-localizes with vascular amyloid-u03b2 deposits, and that in mice, medin deficiency reduces vascular amyloid-u03b2 deposition by half. Mechanistically, the authors demonstrate that medin interacts directly with amyloid-u03b2 to promote its aggregation, as medin forms heterologous fibrils with amyloid-u03b2, affects amyloid-u03b2 . . .
