- what: The authors demonstrate in amyloid-u03b2 precursor protein (APP) transgenic mice and in patients with Alzheimer`s disease that medin co-localizes with vascular amyloid-u03b2 deposits, and that in mice, medin deficiency reduces vascular amyloid-u03b2 deposition by half. Mechanistically, the authors demonstrate that medin interacts directly with amyloid-u03b2 to promote its aggregation, as medin forms heterologous fibrils with amyloid-u03b2, affects amyloid-u03b2 . . .
