- what: The authors show that bear reorganization is in line with a suppression of ATP turnover. The work shows that molecular mechanisms in hibernating bear which appear consistent with a hypometabolic state likely contribute to energy and protein savings. The molecular data the authors report here for muscles of hibernating at near normal body temperature represent a signature of preservation despite atrophying conditions . . .
