SUMMARY
Delirium onset in acute hypoxic patients undergoing NIV is frequent and negatively affects the outcome. Data regarding the incidence of delirium in patients who undergo non-invasive ventilation respiratory support (namely NIV or high-flow nasal cannulae ) are scarce. The authors found that half of patients developed hypokinetic delirium, confirming what previously reported by Zhang et_al. The data show that the use of sedation was higher in those patients who did not develop delirium.
