Mitochondrial dysfunction in sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients: insights from high-resolution respirometry

The authors used PBMCs to investigate the changes; the main advantage is their easy accessibility, as they are isolated from blood. Since most of the work focuses on complex I, the authors could not find any work to compare the results. The work demonstrates significant alterations in mitochondrial respiration in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
