SUMMARY
According to the classification standard of the World Meteorological Organization, sea ice can be categorized into Nilas, New Ice (NI), Young Ice (YI), First Year Ice (FYI), and multi-year ice (MYI) in the Arctic. At present, most sea ice classifications sort sea ice into newly formed ice after summer (FYI) and ice that has survived at least one summer (MYI), while the relevant research on further ice type subdivision is very limited. Nghiem et_al have developed a sea ice classification algorithm based on statistical analysis, showing two separate distinctive peaks in backscatter data . . .
