SUMMARY
The long-nosed armadillos or "mulitas" belong to the Dasypodidae family, the earliest diverging clade inside the Cingulata by the middle Eocene (Gibb et_al, 2016; Delsuc et_al, 2016). With seven species (see below), Dasypus is the extant xenarthra genera most diverse and more widespread (Wetzel et_al, 2007; Hautier et_al, 2017).
